Domaine Bertagna Vougeot Clos de la Perrière 2005
|Region||France, Burgundy, Cote de Nuits|
Wine SpectatorThis is marked by sweet vanilla and coconut notes from new oak, giving way to supple cherry and red currant as it travels across the palate. A mineral element infuses the finish. Needs time to show all its elegant charms. Best from 2011 through 2022.
Wine AdvocateDomaine Bertagna's 2.25 hectare (5.56 acre) monopole, the Vougeot Clos de la Perriere suffered "huge hydric stress" in 2003. According to Forestier, "the 25-45 year old vines lost most of their leaves and their grapes dehydrated, yet there was less damage on the oldest vines." This violet, blackberry, and blueberry-scented wine displays excellent depth and concentration. Medium-bodied, it reveals dark plummy fruit flavors in a structured format. Drink it between 2007 and 2013.
