1999: This is the basic palette from which Serge Hochar, no dry academician, creates his blends: First, a Cinsault from a single, soil-rich vineyard in Ana: deep core, young Provençal scent; delicious flavor, wonderful richness and flesh. Soft tannins. Next. a Cinsault from Ammiq's very gravelly soil:fragrant, lighter stvle, more charm. Then Carignan from a lighter soil in the Ana district: Deep, velvety; spicy garrigue scent (I was reminded of Corbières in the Languedoc), flavour more aromatic. Lastly, Cabernet Sauvignon from Kefraya's rocky soil: verv deep purple; sweet, lovely crisp flavour, excellent tannins and acidity. End taste of violets and blackcurrants.
Pierre Peters Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée de RéserveWe are talking superb aromas: a riot of flowers, lobster and brioche. It's unusually ripe, dynamic and powerful, and also quite settled-tasting, with a long deep clinging finish. As good as many others' vintage wines, thanks in part, to a sensible 10 g.l. RS.
Domaine Dubreuil Fontaine Bourgogne Blanc Les Crenilles 2016Pale yellow colour. Expressive fresh fruits and citrus on the nose. The palate is soft and round with notes of butter matched by florals and fresh acidity.
Purcari Rosu de Purcari Red 2013It has a brick-red color and a complex aroma of forest fruits, cranberries, and dried plums revealing delicate sweet nuances of vanilla. The fruit flavor surprises through its refinement, deepness and smoothness, ensuring a long lasting aftertaste.
Mary Taylor Wine Anjou Blanc 2017Sourced from vineyards that fall exactly along the border of Anjou's two sub-regions, this gorgeously subtle expression from fourth-generation winemaker Pascal Biotteau comes from the village of Saint-Jean-de-Mauvrets, situated on the old Roman road from Angers to Poitiers. Combining the fresh acidity of the "Anjou Blanc's" limestone with the flinty, mouth-coating richness of the "Anjou Noir," the estate's 2017 vintage offers a beautiful composite picture of Anjou as a whole, with honeyed notes of apricot giving way to a tangy mineral finish. The sort of classic "bistro wine" wine that you'd dream of drinking on a warm summer evening in Paris, it's fantastic for fresh goat-cheese salads, fish in cream sauce, or even herb-roasted pork or chicken. Just don't serve it too cold, Mary says, to avoid masking its full depth and aromatic complexity.
La Bastide Saint Dominique Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2017Brilliant light yellow wine, with green reflections. Nose of peach, litchi and pineapple, with notes of citrus fruits. Fresh and delicious attack/bouquet, with a persistent finale on exotic notes. Food Pairing: Tuna carpaccio in peppered oil, Roasted rabbit in cherry plum, Goat cheese platter, Grilled gambas/scampis.
Fitapreta Touriga Vai Nua 2017Dark purple. On the nose, fresh boysenberry, blackberry, plum and blueberry are commingled with a ferrous mineral note and sauvage notes of beef blood, anise and rose petals. On the palate, intense and lush, but light on its feet. The blue and black fruit are framed beautifully by fresh flowers and slate-tinged mineral. Finishes long, with a whiff of white pepper. Food Pairings: This is a versatile wine. The lush fruit profile pairs very well with roasted and grilled meats, but the low alcohol levels and lack of oak tannin make it a fine pair for lighter fare like charcuterie and cheese.
Antonelli Colli Martani Grechetto 2018Appearance: Straw yellow in colour. Aroma: Opens with elegance to the nose: fresh, fruity and floral with notes of citrus, peach, almond and hawthorn blossom. Flavor: The taste has good structure and is pleasantly fresh. Pairings: Seafood appetizers, salami, fresh cheeses and first courses. Excellent with pulse and cereal soups, savory pies and fish based dishes.
Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva 2006Colour: Vibrant red leading slightly towards amber. Nose: Light fresh texture with notes of vanilla and dried berry aromas. Taste: Rich, very dry, smooth, developed. Firm tannins and good balance.
Daniel Crochet Sancerre 2018Appearance: The color is pale gold with green reflections and shine up the dress. Nose: Seduces with its freshness and fruitiness. Palate: Beautiful expression in the mouth where the purity and fineness marry.
Le Colture Brut FagherThis is our most modern Valdobbiadene D.O.C.G. sparkling wine and it has achieved considerable international success in the years. Its most attractive elements are encapsulated in the inviting sweetness of vegetable and heady citrus aromas together with a note of fresh bread, combined with a lively and pleasant taste. The thin perlage ensures the persistence of taste and freshness in the palate combined with its adaptability to be matched with a wide range of food, although it is particularly appreciated served at a temperature of 7/9 °C with simple and more creative fish and vegetable antipasti, seafood pasta dishes and roast fish or even, as usual in the production area, to be drunk throughout the entire meal.
Château-Jean-Pierre-Gaussen Bandol Rosé 2018
Tyrrell's Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz 2013The deep rich colour of this wine indicates its intensity. The nose is full of ripe plum and dark cherries with a hint of white pepper and sweet vanillin. The flavours carry onto the palate which is full of big soft fruit, but balanced by an elegant oak structure and natural acid, resulting in a rich wine with a complex and fresh structure.
Foxglove Chardonnay 2016Foxglove Chardonnay always represents a great value. With this wine you have the richness of fruit from California's Central Coast giving you tropical notes. However, the wine is bottled without going through malolactic fermentation and has no oak on it so it maintains a very clean profile. Great on it's own or with food it's a very versatile Chardonnay.
Trefethen Double T Red 2016
Chateau Musar White 2009The Chateau white of this year is a deep golden colour with honeyed aromas, full of tropical fruits; pineapple, banana with warm, toasty buttery notes. The palate is rich in ripe yellow fruits, quince and apricot with the pineapple flavours following through. It also has dried fruits and almonds with oak ageing characters. This is a powerful vintage full of yellow fruits and honeycomb; there is a fine balance between the oily texture and fresh acidity. Cellared well, it will keep for decades.
Hahn Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay 2017Aroma: Citrus, stone fruit and hints of banana and vanilla. Flavor: A viscous mouthfeel with welcoming acidity that showcases stone fruits, citrus and hints of apple and spices. Pairings: Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken.
Macanita Touriga Nacional Em Rose 2018Appearance: Saturated rose-pink. Nose: Fresh crushed strawberries, bing cherries and cherry blossom aromas leap from the glass. Palate: Juicy and fresh, with beautiful texture and balance. Sour and Bing cherry, fresh and macerated strawberries, and a touch of white pepper spice all in abundance. Pairings: A wine made for warm weather celebrations! Delicious as an aperitif, this wine is also a great pair with raw seafood preparations and fresh vegetables.
Verget du Sud Guffens De Sud Chardonnay Vaucluse 2016This type of rich, textured Chardonnay is a bit of an endangered species these days, but there is also plenty of the classic Guffens purity, precision and rocky freshness to balance the layers. A bargain from the grower dubbed a "peerless winemaker" by France's most influential wine critic, Michel Bettane.
Theo Minges Scheurebe Feinherb 2018Regina Minges and her father Theo farm 24 hectares organically in Flemlingen in the Southern Pfalz. Scheu is grown in the richer, loamy soils of Flemlinen, from two sites, Vogelsprung and Zechpeter. Fermentation here is in native yeasts and in stainless steel without temperature control.
