Attractive yellow gold colour. Quite closed shortly after bottling, but with great intensity. A little more lime/lemon character together with the usual dried apricot, nuts, honey and buttered toast. The palate is intensely sweet yet not cloying, fresh and lively yet richly oxidative with a long clean and complex finish. Delicious with good patés, biscotti and various hard cheeses. A rewarding challenge to match with desserts!

Really ripe and creamy, with an almost languid feel to the papaya, mango, maple glazed peach and spice notes. Long, rich finish lets everything hang together nicely. Chenin Blanc.

The 2006 Straw Wine is pure Chenin Blanc matured over 21 months in new French and American barrels. It is rather disjointed on the nose and lacks the sweetness and purity one looks for, although the palate is much better, with notes of quince, vanilla and caramel. This is a good but not great straw wine. Drink now-2015.
