Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin 2009
An interesting nose of cranberry and warm earth hints that add nuance to the blue berry and red pinot fruit aromas is followed by lightly mineral-inflected and attractively detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in a sappy and mouth coating finish that is ever-so-mildly austere at present. This persistent effort should require 5 to 7 years to be at its best.
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is the best of the village-level wines. It shows tons of Gevrey character in a sweet, perfumed style I find irresistible, with gorgeous length and fine overall balance. The level of quality is admirable, considering there are 200 barrels of this cuvee. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
