Dönnhoff Estate Riesling 2017
A perfect vintage of the wine value in the entire damn world, any color, any grape, any country, any pricepoint. This year for the first time it also contains fruit from a new acquisition, a hectare in the (Niederhauser) Klamm.
Bevan Sugarloaf Mountain Proprietary Red 2013What a great run we have had with this vineyard. We recently locked up our blocks long term, ensuring that we will be making this wine for many years to come, and we couldn't be more excited. Stylistically, the 2013 is a combination of the 2012, which had higher acidity and tannin than any previous vintage, and the 2009, which had the most intense dark chocolate flavors. It almost has a sweetness to it, but the wine is bone dry. This extreme site provides incredibly seductive textures and pure sex appeal.
Orin Swift Papillon 2016An inky, dark garnet sits in the glass with bursting aromatics even from afar-ripe blackcurrant and blackberry with hints of Kirsch, Madagascar vanilla and cigar box. Velvety and rich on entry and through the mid, the wine offers flavors of dark plum, blueberry and notes of fennel, fresh leather and a subtle minerality. Plush, layered and dense, the wine finishes with dusty tannins and a lingering touch of black cherry.
Domaine Notre Dame des Pallières Côte du Rhône Villages Sablet Blanc Montmartel 2017Vivid pale yellow. Stone fruits and floral aromas. Rich on palate, with plenty of mineral showing through.
Craggy Range Te Kahu Gimblett Gravels Vineyard 2016Deepest crimson red. Brooding aromatically with notes of cassis, black olive, dried tobacco and the faintest hint of caramel. The wine has lovely focus on the palate with dark fruits framed by fine tannins to deliver a classical structure with an excellent future ahead. Food Pairing: Rich red meats.
Yves Cuilleron Sybel Rosé 2018This Rosé is sourced 100% from Syrah grown within the confines of the village of Chavanay. It is produced by the "saignée" method after a brief maceration of several hours. The fermentations are in stainless steel and the elevage continues for about six months before bottling in the spring following harvest.
