Straw colored (still ageing in barrel), the wine displays lovely aromatic notes of very ripe white fruits such peach, nectarine, and pear on the nose. On the palate, the wine becomes round and smooth, with an excellent balance between freshness and alcohol, yet displaying a medium body, graced with finesse. The retro-olfaction is elegant and marked by exotic fruits, and a tinge of spices (mild spices and nutmeg). The finish is long and pleasant, with more freshness and charm than power, typical of a year with a difficult climate. The cool Barsac terroir enabled this wine to preserve the estate's typicity.

Wine Enthusiast90-92. Barrel sample. This is a rich wine with a dense texture and concentrated, opulent and ripe tropical and dried-fruit flavors. It misses some of that dry, botrytized character often found in Bordeaux, but it's just as much sweet as it is textured.

Wine SpectatorBroad and honeyed, with lots of warm piecrust, orange zest, glazed apple, peach and almond cream notes. The finish lingers with orange and date accents, while a hint of citrus oil imparts good spine. Rather flattering today, but has the energy to develop with time. Best from 2017 through 2027. 2,500 cases made.

Wine AdvocateThe 2012 has a lifted bouquet of quince, marmalade and yellow flowers that is precise and focused. The palate is viscous and convincing on the opening, offering good depth and cohesion with satisfactory botrytis, though it tails away ever so slightly on the finish. Still, this is a commendable effort and is another fine 2012 Barsac.
