STAFF PICK – The Best Value Priorat. PERIOD.
Since Jim Nejaime’s trip to the rugged, slate covered vineyards of Priorat, Spain,
we’ve been in love with the great reds of this region.
This fabled land, south of Barcelona, makes some of the
most beautifully deep, rich, yet structured and elegant red wines of the world.
The quality is in great part due the steep slopes of ‘ licorella’ (volcanic slate);
yet these difficult growing conditions result in most Priorat wines of this quality
costing between $ 25 - $ 50 per bottle. We are thrilled to offer La Cartuja to our clients….
the absolute best value Priorat red wine!
Ripe, juicy and complex dark berry fruit w/a great rich texture layering of classic eastern Spanish terroir. A mouthful of delicious red with nice polished tannic structure and a long, dry finish. What more could you ask for?
Deep, vivid red. Fresh dark berry and floral pastille aromas are complemented by notes of vanilla, cola and smoky minerals. Sappy and well-concentrated yet graceful, with pliant boysenberry and black raspberry flavors that show no rough edges. Finishes gently sweet, smooth and long, leaving spice and candied lavender notes behind.
