Vara y Pulgar Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz 2015
Bright violet color. A wild, expansive bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, violet, smoked meat and succulent herbs. Chewy and deeply concentrated, offering bitter cherry, cassis and floral pastille flavors that turn sweeter with air. Shows a strong gamy quality on a long, supple, spice-tinged finish that's framed by building tannins. This wild wine won't be everybody's cup of tea but fans of Old School, meaty wines will likely love it. (raised in a combination of a large French oak vat and a single, large concrete tank, followed by eight months in 225 liter French oak barriques)
This red is sinuous and savory, lean but tender in texture, with licorice, sanguine and black pepper notes framing black cherry, currant and clove flavors. Offers lively acidity and light tannins. Drink now through 2023. 3,000 cases made, 2,095 cases imported.
