Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Rioja Reserva 2008
|Brand||Lopez de Heredia|
"This is a finely balanced, elegant, savory, elegant blend of Tempranillo with 25% mix of Garnacha, Manzuelo and Graciano, combining summer berry fruit, balancing acidity, granular, soft tannins and an earthy, balsamic undertone. Interesting and delicious to enjoy now, but this will greatly develop further complexity in bottle over the next 20 yrs."
"The nose of the 2008 Viña Tondonia Reserva is very elegant, fresh and with an herbal twist, starting to show the complexity of their aged wines. The palate is medium-bodied, with lightness and depth, very classical with extra freshness and all that is needed for a long development in bottle. There are notes of maple, smoke, anise and ripe, crisp fruit. The palate is more lean, crunchy and reveals the chalkiness of the soils. There's more complexity, definition and precision here than any other Rioja I have tasted this year!"
"Lots of dried fruit with plum, light raisin, chocolate and toasted oak. Some balsamic undertones. White truffles and dried flowers. Medium body, creamy tannins and savory, balsamic undertones. Extreme and uniquely delicious, as always."
