"Les Nosroyes" is French for walnuts. Walnut trees thrive in limestone soils and are sensitive to moisture, just like vines.
94pts Spirited Wines
The nose is pear and precious wood and lets show some notes of aging, aeration completes the bouquet with sweet spices; the chardonnay in its mineral and orientalist complexity. In the mouth it is a great extension: both rich and tonic, the wine is fat and leaves a long trail of white fruits before plunging the palate into a chalky finish. Powerful and complete, this wine is a premier cru that prefers the modesty of the village.
The 2018 Puligny-Montrache Les Nosroyes comes from a 1.2-hectare vineyard within two plots. It has a perfumed, slightly resinous bouquet with melted candle wax scents infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fresh, quite tensile opening thanks to a tang of orange peel and Seville orange marmalade. Good persistence on the finish. This is a well-crafted Puligny to enjoy over the next six to eight years.
