A benchmark expression of Volnay Premier Cru. Sourced from a prized 3.8-hectare holding in the heart of the appellation, this wine reflects both the pedigree of the vineyard and the precision of Lafon’s cellar. Aromatically lifted with wild strawberry, cranberry, crushed violets, and hints of rose and spice, it leads into a medium-bodied palate defined by purity, grace, and textural finesse. Fine-boned tannins and vivid acidity give it both structure and energy, while maintaining a sense of effortless balance.
Critics agree: this is one of the standout reds south of Corton in the 2021 vintage. With 95 points from Tim Atkin and Vinous, and 94 from Decanter, it’s already garnering acclaim, and rightly so. While approachable in youth, its true beauty will emerge with time—recommended drinking from 2027 through 2048.

The 2021 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu ler Cru comes from all the Domaine's vines, including the youngest ones. Wonderful aromatics on the nose: wild strawberry, cranberry, rose petals and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, lovely balance and purity and very harmonious with a slightly grainy texture. Slips down the throat with ease. Outstanding given the growing season.

Exhibiting aromas of raspberries, vine smoke, warm spices, wintergreen and orange zest, the 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots-du-Milieu is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with an enveloping core of cool, vibrant fruit and a rich, sensual profile. Transcending stereotypes of the vintage, it's a beautiful bottling in the making.
