“One of the very first single-vineyard Brunellos, the Valdicava Madonna del Piano very much set the standard for cru Brunello.
Organically grown & meticulously produced, Valdicava Brunello have a strong reputation for elegant, suave, velvety Brunello.
This cru Brunello Riserva is always a knockout, and as reviewer James Suckling has said "Valdicava’s single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Madonna del Piano is one of the great wines of Tuscany, if not all of Italy. It is a wine completely based on great soil and climate, and fabulous viticulture from owner Vincenzo Abbruzzese.
The Madonna del Piano always shows seductive dark fruits and a fresh porcini character… A super-complex Brunello with aromas of spices, dried cherries, wild strawberries, potpourri, orange zest, smoky wood and earth. Full-bodied with velvety tannins. Energy and graceful harmony in the long aftertaste, with a savory hint of black olives. It’s structured and long-lived, yet polished and reserved.  It is an archetypal Brunello di Montalcino for me.  Enjoy from 2028-2040.” (JS)
